Who are some of your favorite "under the radar" players? Alternatively- how do you see Dallas' next few seasons unfolding, seeing as they want Deboer to stick around until Benn's deal is up and the next group of prospects arrive.
I’m definitely a bit late to the game here (I only just signed up), but thought it was worth asking: if a player has a strong CF%, SCF%, HDCF% (i.e. ~52.5%), why might that same player have an xGF% of ~49.5%? I’d think if a player is taking more shots and getting more chances (especially high danger ones), he’d also have a strong xGF%, but that’s not always the case. I’m clearly missing something, but I’m puzzled as to what that might be.
Is there anyway the Sharks can make the playoffs next season, LA getting Fiala does not inspire confidence. Also is Toronto the best team in the Atlantic with the three other heavy weights all having a bunch of cap casualties?
They were better than they were for the past couple. I think Josh Morrissey is fine, the Jets ask him to do way too much. The more he can play a Brian Dumoulin-type role the better.
Of all the players that seemed to explode out of nowhere for huge seasons (i.e. Thompson, Terry, Kempe, Mangiapane, Bennett, Hartman, Barbashev, etc) which do you think can maintain sustainable production? Who is a flash in the pan?
most sustainable is Terry, Mangiapane. Kempe, Bennett, Thompson might be able to run things back. Hartman depends on linemates. Barbashev was definitely a flash in the pan.
Microstats can sometimes be overwhelming to look at and decipher what it's actually telling us. Do you have tips for newbies on how to best interpret those charts accurately?
Dangerous areas of the ice offensively. Pucks are coming from around the perimeter and not the slot. For him to be a proper first line centre he'll have to figure out how to create those opportunities - or at least be a transcendent enough playmaker that it doesn't matter.
I'm still a bit skeptical on Dobson to be honest, the production is there but the underlying numbers aren't outstanding. I'm not usually huge on throw-pucks-on-goal defencemen and that's kind of his thing.
That said, ceiling would be I guess #1 defenceman? I dunno.
Everything looks good under the hood, who knows if he'll keep producing this much but he looks legit. Hard to parse a reasonable contract for a player with one outstanding season.
Why do you design your models to specifically hate the rangers
malice
That's good keep it up, rangers are the worst

With so many free agents likely leaving COL this summer, what will they need to do to ensure they can contend again next year?
Just plug the holes with above-replacement level players.
Do you think league wide offensive numbers stay like they did this season? Or even climb higher?
Probably will get a bit lower with fewer sub-replacement guys getting minutes because of COVID
who is going to be the most overpaid UFA this summer and why is it Ilya Mikheyev?
I don't know who it will be, but it will be a defenceman.
Or Nazem Kadri if he gets 8x8
I can't think Colorado goes there, maybe 7x$8M elsewhere though
I would be shocked if he goes back to COL

Whens ur next twitch strim?

What's up with the Jack Johnson profile picture?
Was a running joke when he was on the Penguins. I was not a fan of his contract.
Which goalie do the Devils covet and which do the get?
Canadian teams can’t compete with heavy taxes here🙀😡🇨🇦
Is Josh Morrissey a good defenseman? What's his analytics of the last season?
They were better than they were for the past couple. I think Josh Morrissey is fine, the Jets ask him to do way too much. The more he can play a Brian Dumoulin-type role the better.
A card, maybe? Big please and huge thanks
When someone is 90% WAR, what is that translated into actual WINS?
Something around 2 I think?
Should the Habs look to acquire a new goalie and if so who should be the target?
Not yet. Roll with Allen and Price until you actually have to try to compete again
Who realistically picks off the board first at the draft?
Montreal
Do you think Panarin bounces back next season in terms of 5v5, also who would you like to see on the same line with him ?
Wouldn't shock me, and I would like to see an actual scorer there. Scoring centre + Kakko would work
What should the Leafs do with their goalie situation if they can’t resign Campbell
Can Travis Dermott finally solidify himself as a top 4 dman in a new team this season?
Depends who's playing ahead of him and how the coach feels
If Edmonton comes back with Nurse, ceci, Kulak, Bouchard, Keith and mayfield with hellebuck in nets do you think there good enough to win the cup?
I guess. Depends on Hellebuyck
Do you think Edmonton could trade for hellebuck and if so what do you think it would take For Edmonton to do so?

Favorite Donkey Kong character?
Diddy
I took you for a Funky Kong type of dude. This information will prove valuable
Microstats can sometimes be overwhelming to look at and decipher what it's actually telling us. Do you have tips for newbies on how to best interpret those charts accurately?
Look for patterns - good transition, good shot creation, good passing, good entry defence
In your opinion, who is the best goaltender in the world?
What do the red wings need to compete for a playoff spot this season?
Sandin vs Liljegren, who's better now and who's better in 3 years?
How are the Penguins even considering letting Malkin walk? Is the gap that large? What do you see as an honestly fair value?
Who are your top 5 dman in the league
Who would be the most effective and realistic trade target for the Kraken, given their cap space?
Cap dumps that can play
What team has the worst outlook, in terms of being stuck in the dreaded middle?
Philadelphia
Could Filip Forsberg make a big leap if he leaves for a better team?
Could, but I would shocked if 2021-22 isn't his career best year
to follow up, if Kuemper gets paid elsewhere how would you handle the goaltending situation if you are Sakic?
Chase after Hellebuyck or look for short term options
after emptying out the tank for Kuemper/at the deadline I don't think they could even entertain Hellebuyck but maybe
do you like the value the Kings got on sending the 19 pick and Faber + 7x$7.875M Fiala deal?
Yes.
Best goalie to be traded to a contender?
Hellebuyck would be fun to see.
That would be awesome no doubt
Swayman over/under 1 vezina for career?
Under to play it safe but who knows with goalies. Especially if the Bruins can keep their defensive structure strong
What would the smartest choice be for the Rangers with regards to their search for a 2C?
If they can't find the right option, go short term. I'm still not convinced that Mika Zibanejad is the #1 centre on a Cup winner.
whats your prediction on Kuemper contract/destination?
if not COL, is Fleury a shoe in to replace him?
I think he should stay in Colorado, and if I was COL I would not be psyched at the idea of replacing him with Fleury tbh
Who is more important to resign in COL: Burakovsky, Nuke or Kadri, assuming they can afford only 1
Nichushkin
Did the red wings hire a decent coach?
no idea
What do the Bruins do this off-season? Make it spicy.
Krejci and an overpaid bottom sixer. Problem solved!
I know Sweeney is still there but what does an “ultimate Bruins” off-season revamp look like to contend for a cup
Who’s winning the Calder next year
No clue, don't know enough about prospects
Charlie Coyle: great, good, decent or bad 3C?
I'd say decent. Just overpaid.
What happens to Klingberg. His agent and Stars haven't spoken to each other in months.
Hits the market, goes to a team that strikes out on Letang for a lot of money.
Thank you
What’s holding back Nick Suzuki offensive impact at 5 v 5 in your model? Do you see a first line centre in him (70-80 points)?
Dangerous areas of the ice offensively. Pucks are coming from around the perimeter and not the slot. For him to be a proper first line centre he'll have to figure out how to create those opportunities - or at least be a transcendent enough playmaker that it doesn't matter.
What do you think Noah Dobson’s ceiling is?
I'm still a bit skeptical on Dobson to be honest, the production is there but the underlying numbers aren't outstanding. I'm not usually huge on throw-pucks-on-goal defencemen and that's kind of his thing.
That said, ceiling would be I guess #1 defenceman? I dunno.
You have to pick any one player younger than 26 to be your team's franchise player. Who do you pick?
Connor McDavid
top 5 defensemen rn?
In no order, Makar/Fox/McAvoy/Hedman......... uh.... Slavin maybe?
no Josi huh?
Josi just doesn't have the two-way game of any of those five guys.
Heiskanen has the inside track to jump into that top 5
Is Trocheck actually better than Erik Haula
Yes but that's faint praise...
Is Jesper Bratt the real deal? And what is a reasonable contract for him?
Everything looks good under the hood, who knows if he'll keep producing this much but he looks legit. Hard to parse a reasonable contract for a player with one outstanding season.
Do you think Martin Necas has another gear he can reach?
One would hope so. Skills are there.
