I'm rather baffled by anyone who's a Flames fan who would want to trade Gaudreau. Like, the team won 25 out of 42 games (0.607 points %) under Geoff Ward, and they trended upwards. A big bounceback season is in order for much of the team, particularly Johnny hockey.
But even then, wouldn't you want to at least wait until the trade deadline of his contract year? I get that the Flames might not have a lot of leverage in that scenario, but trading him at the deadline on his contract year (if it's clear he doesn't want to re-sign) is a lot better than trading him too early.
I love the post. I think the thing that no one talks about is that his grandpa was dying for most of the season. When he finally passed, #13 was back up to a PPG pace. That's not a coincidence. We saw his celebration the night he played after his grandpa passed. That said it all.
I believe that the wrist injury has diminished his ability to "aim" and shoot the puck. It may have also reduced the power he can put on his shots and passes.
Sadly, he may becoming Johnny Rec-hockey for the remainder of his career.

It's a very vocal minority. Most of us realize the insane nature of wanting to trade a player of his caliber.
Because he’s a free agent and 2 years and more than likely won’t resign with the team
I also think that's in large part Eric Francis propaganda. We can't know for sure he won't resign.
Why would he resign for less money? He doesn't deserve a raise. He hasn't showed up since 2015 playoffs

Monahan to the Habs for Kotkaniemi and a 2021 second rounder.
For real? Source?
Holy S you're gullible
The Flames have traded Sean Monahan to Montreal for center Jesperi Kotkaniemi and a 2021 2nd rounder.
