Part of my concern (as a Jets fan) with Laine departing is all the space he opened up on the ice for the like of Scheifele, Wheeler, and Connor. They've benefited greatly for defenders and goalies cheating to prevent the Laine lazer and now they're going to get defended head up. I think it's no coincidence that Wheeler and Scheifele's numbers exploded after Laine's arrival and made everyone believe they're elite. I guess we'll see if they can replicate that kind of offensive output now. Small sample size in the last couple games and any time he's off the top powerplay shows that they're about average at best

Good analysis as always. Btw that’s four young former first rounders that demanded a trade from the Jets and got one. Kane, Trouba, Laine, Roslovic. As someone who thinks that the anti-Winnipeg bias is both real and lazy and overblown it makes me wonder about the team leadership or the coach. For being a “players coach” some players sure don’t seem to want to play for Paul Maurice. Byfuglien leaving was weird but also unfortunate. Enstrom left after getting benched against Vegas in the WCF...
