I've been saying this since the draft. Outstanding talent, balance, edges, shot are as good as the elites in the league.. his hands are equivalent to Conners, and Conner has said so... give Josh a player to play with skill he'll tear it up!
Yeah it's the Islanders that are holding him down, nothing he's done. He's played for 2 GMs and 3 HC and none of them felt he was an NHL player. He cleared waivers, not one team bit, then he demanded a trade, when's the last time an AHL player that just cleared waivers demanded a trade? Had he just reported a been professional he would have seen time with an injury decimated Islanders team, but he wanted to be traded and the Islanders couldn't get a bag of pucks for him so he sat home. If he's such a great player why hasn't he absolutely dominated the AHL for the years and years he's been there? When an NHL player goes to the AHL for reconditioning after an injury they usually dominate and that's after a long layoff. But hey what does the Isles HOF GM and future HOF and reigning Jack Adam's award winning coach know about talent, or the other 30 GMs and coaches that passed on him on waivers for that matter know not as much as his cult following of analytics fans obviously.
He’s an amazing offensive talent/player but he doesn’t play defensive and turns the puck over to much. Add in a Piss poor attitude and showing up late to meetings or oversleeping it’s n surprise he didn’t make the isles lineup. It’s more then just on ice points. Personally, I like ho sang. Wish he had a more mature attitude and just did what the coaches wanted even if his offensive game suffered a bit. He is like a barzal type of player, he is a playmaker. Overall, he is a defensive liability and even if he puts up 3 points he prob on ice for 4 against. Leafs picked him up and he must had 3 assists in a pre season game. I wish him the best but he would single handedly kill a team in the playoffs.
ive watched him play alot since he's been drafted. Even last year, i cant remember a player make so many bonehead decisions and commit so many unforced turnovers every game. He only plays defense when it will get noticed and coaches never put him on versus any challenging matchup. Thats why he looked good in the NHL for that little stint. That and the fact he played for a coach who didnt care about defense; just transition offense. This is a case of a guy who i think is the only one ive seen that analytically is supposed to be good but all you have to do is watch one of his AHL games and you would understand why he cant make an NHL team

Well said ! Such a great point. Hall of fame GM and coach have it wrong? Haha. So correct. But the fan who writes an article knows better. So true.
